September 2015 - Book Week

Book Week is certainly a highlight of the school year here at our house. As soon as one is over for the year the girls start planning the following years costumes! Hannah is rather sad for next year because they don't celebrate Book Week at High School in the same way as they do at the Primary School.  Introducing this years characters,
Star Bellied Sneetch from Dr Suess's "The Sneetches"
Juliet from William Shakepeare's "Romeo and Juliet"
Doris from Enid Bylton's "Twins at St Clares"

August 2015 - Apple roses

We watched a little video the other day where they made these and they looked pretty easy so we gave it a go for our Family Home Evening treat one night. They not only looked amazing but tasted really yummy! Here's a link to the video

August 2015 - Let it SNOW!

We went to bed Sunday with a prediction that it might "lightly snow" the next morning but when we were woken up by Mary at 6am calling out "It's SNOWED" we knew it was a little more than light!
So with pyjamas, dressing gowns and boots we headed outside and saw the magic of a winter wonderland. We threw snowballs, made snow angels and slid down the ramp out the back using a shopping bag for a sled.
All up and down the street you could hear kids and adults alike coming out to see what had happened, it was just like Christmas morning!
We played around until it sunrise and then headed in to get dressed for school, thankfully while the girls were having breakfast we got the notification that the schools were closed for the day. Which was a good thing because the cars looked like this!

We took a little drive around town and saw just how thick it was all over but it started snowing pretty hard and the roads had become quite slippery so we headed home and warmed up with hot chocolates. The girls didn't stay inside long though and went back outside to start on some cute snowmen. The neighbours came out and thought they were great and told the girls that they could use the snow on their front yards to build some more.

It snowed pretty steadily all morning and didn't ease up til after lunch. The sun would come out for a little bit and then hide away and it would start snowing again! Real flurries and everything!

By late afternoon it was starting to melt and just the snowmen were left standing in dripping puddles.
The next morning it had all but gone and school was open again leaving us to wonder whether it was all a wonderful dream! Mary had made a huge snowball in the backyard which was still surviving last time I checked outside.

July 2015 - Lego time!

Mum helped organise a Lego competition at school this year as part of the Lego Brixhibition being held in Devonport in July.
All three girls entered the competition and it was voted on by each student. Each girl won a place in their category and as a prize they received a voucher for the canteen. Yum!
Mary's piece was voted by the teachers and the best in the school and she was chosen to represent our school at the Brixhibition. Her piece was a 2D one and she called it "My Beautiful Day"
Becky made an awesome cafe complete with woodfire pizzas. Hannah decided to make her classroom with her friends, teacher and even the groundsman working on the windows.
So much fun!
We took the girls to the exhibition on a rainy Saturday afternoon and Mary was thrilled to see her piece on display.

June 2015 - Frosty mornings

We have been having some amazing frosty mornings lately and I arrived at school to find the most beautiful icy crystals had formed on the windows near my classroom. Aren't they magical?!
