We went to bed Sunday with a prediction that it might "lightly snow" the next morning but when we were woken up by Mary at 6am calling out "It's SNOWED" we knew it was a little more than light!
So with pyjamas, dressing gowns and boots we headed outside and saw the magic of a winter wonderland. We threw snowballs, made snow angels and slid down the ramp out the back using a shopping bag for a sled.
All up and down the street you could hear kids and adults alike coming out to see what had happened, it was just like Christmas morning!
We played around until it sunrise and then headed in to get dressed for school, thankfully while the girls were having breakfast we got the notification that the schools were closed for the day. Which was a good thing because the cars looked like this!
We took a little drive around town and saw just how thick it was all over but it started snowing pretty hard and the roads had become quite slippery so we headed home and warmed up with hot chocolates. The girls didn't stay inside long though and went back outside to start on some cute snowmen. The neighbours came out and thought they were great and told the girls that they could use the snow on their front yards to build some more.
It snowed pretty steadily all morning and didn't ease up til after lunch. The sun would come out for a little bit and then hide away and it would start snowing again! Real flurries and everything!
By late afternoon it was starting to melt and just the snowmen were left standing in dripping puddles.
The next morning it had all but gone and school was open again leaving us to wonder whether it was all a wonderful dream! Mary had made a huge snowball in the backyard which was still surviving last time I checked outside.
