Ottobre 1/2008 Knot Top (in a big size!)

This ones for me! I love the Spring issue from 2008, I'm sure I've raved about it before but it has so many pattern that I use over and over!
I use size 164cms for my tops and just lengthen them a little as I like the hemline to be slightly longer. I've used this pattern soooooo many times, I wonder if anyone notices all my tops are the same just different fabric?!
I really like how easy and quick it comes together. I used a binding from the same fabric for the neckline and just overlocked it on right sides together and then flipped it over and topstitched the front, too easy!
Fabric is a comfy single knit jersey from Spotlight that I've had in my cupboard since forever.

Cradle Mountain in December

(I'm catching up on a few happenings over the last few months)

So, we've been living in the foothills of Cradle Mountain for a few years now and haven't yet visited it so a few months back we thought we'd take a little drive.......the date was Monday the 27th of December and no, we do not live in the Northern Hemisphere so that date would be in the middle of Summer! When we were driving up the mountain it was looking pretty unlikely that we would be able to see much as the foggy clouds and snow were covering pretty much everything but just as we parked the car to get out and have a look the clouds blew away and we had a fabulous view. It was getting rather chilly at this point, you know the kind of chilly when your ears start to ache and you've lost feeling in your fingers and toes! The girls found a great snowman built by a passerby and had a grand time playing with him.....he'd melted by the time we came back down the mountain though, random Tassie weather!

Choc Mint Monkey!

New winter jammies for the little one, who's not so little and is wearing the same size are her older sister, who's 7, was at Christmas time! Ack!

(I know these things because I keep a little book with their measurements in which saves me having to get the out of bed to try something on for hemming!)

Anyway, it's a single knit jersey from Spotlight (thanks to Grandma for finding Monkeys for our Monkey!) and the cuffs are chocolate Stella from Crafty Mamas. Pattern is Ottobre Creative Workshop 301, regular fit T-Shirt and Ottober 4/2004 Leggings, a staple in our place! She loves them despite the fact that the older two are calling them the choc mint jammies....she detests anything with a minty (SPICY!) flavour :)

(everyone wanted to get in on the photo action tonight!)I've also popped up a picture of the sunrise at our place the other day, just to prove I do get up before the sun some days.........

Frosty fun!

A few Saturdays ago we took the girls for a drive to see the Great Lakes and see if we could see any snow. We drove past a patch of white on the way up and the girls got all excited "Snow!!"
Mummy....bursting their bubble....said "Oh, no, it's not snow, just white moss" and on we drove. Turns out it WAS kind of snow, well, ice and the like and we had a little play on the way back down.We also took a walk along the Pine Lake Walk which was just beautiful and so serene with the most amazing native flowers. I've decided it's my happy place, you know when you're doing something awful like a MRI test (which freaks me out every time!) and they say to try and relax and think of something else, well, that walk with the girls and the scenery is now my "something else" :)
Here's a bunch of pics (including Mum's Artsy pictures as the family calls them!)

Dortje pants from Sewing Clothes Kids Love

Afternoon all....this isn't much of a grand return to blogging but I missed the record of my sewing so I'll keep this going more as a journal for me.
My sewing has taken a back seat over the last few months with studies and illness playing a major role but with things hopefully settling down I'm looking forward to spend some chilly winter nights warming up with the maching whirring.

These pants are from Sewing Clothes Kids Love by Nancy J S Langdon and Sabine Pollehn (Farbenmix patterns). This is a gorgeous book with amazing clothes that my girls think are just too cute! I'm afraid my rendition of the Dortje pants is rather plain but I'm trying to the pattern for the first time and wasn't unsure of the fit/style so didn't want to get carried away.

They are in widewale purple cord and have a fake fly which is perfect as I have zipper fly phobia!
The fit isn't too great, not much growing room but they'll last for a bit and Beck loves them so that'a winner!
