April 2015 - Baby ducks

We walked along the river bank to get to the Easter festival and came across this adorable family of ducks and their babies. They looked so sweet all swimming together and let us come right up close for a look.

April 2015 - Easter festival

It was a busy Saturday with the Alpaca expo, Showground Market and Easter festival all on at the same time. We headed over to the Easter festival after we had checked out the Alpacas. It was down at the riverbank and there were some awesome face painting happening, little rotary train rides, games and a free sausage sizzle. Great way to spend a sunny day together.

April 2015 - Alpaca expo

It's our third year of visiting the Alpaca Expo down at the Deloraine Showgrounds. It wasn't as big this year but still plenty of Alpacas to keep Mary happy. They are her favourite animals after all!

March 2015 - Road trip to Hobart

Dad needed to head to Hobart to visit with a Bishop down there and we all came along for the ride. I took the girls to Salamanca Market while he had his interview and it was fun wandering around and checking out the stalls. Afterwards we had a delicious dinner at Mures on the waterfront. Daddy had the steak while I tried out the yummy fish and chips. The girls shared some chips and salad (which had feta in it much to Becks delight!)
Afterwards we were treated to some ice cream which was so delicious and such generous serves!
It wasn't a bad drive at all and the girls are much better at long car rides than they used to be.

February 2015 - Creative Mary

I love to see the creative way that Mary's mind works, she's always coming up with something amazing and fun. This time it was glasses and a bull! She decided that the exercise bike reminded her of a bull and made a face for it. The glasses were just classic and had us all laughing!

February 2015 - Up a tree

The girls have made a tree house in the "mushroom tree" in the backyard and they've collected all sorts of bits and pieces to take out there. We often come out to find them up the tree or cooking something up in the little pots and pans out there.

February 2015 - Back to school

That wonderful time of the year did come.....back to school! Actually we're always sad to see the end of holidays, as much as the girls enjoy school it's so nice to have that break and just enjoy time together as a family.
This year Hannah is grade 6! Isn't that crazy? Her teacher is Mrs Kettle who she has previously for grade 3 and 4. Hannah thought it was fabulous as she really likes this teacher. Grade 6 is an exciting year and she's really looking forward to all the extra fun activities and responsibilities. She's put her name down to be an Aussie Sports leader and part of that is helping the little kids with daily PE which is great fun. She's continuing in the choir and band (playing the flute) and has just started coming along to the Deloraine Jnr Band on Tuesday evening with Becky.

Becky is grade 4 this year and has Mrs Wing (who was Hannah's teacher last year). She's had a great start to the year and enjoying her new class and teacher. She's also continuing with the band (playing the trumpet) and loves going along to Jnr band. She's found a fellow "Grumpy cat" lover in Mrs Wing and they exchange funny memes with each other!

Mary is in grade 2 and has Mrs Evans. (Both Hannah and Beck had her as well!). She has a lovely little class and she's settled in so well. Her reading has really taken off and she's loving working her way through the Faraway Tree stories and also the Wishing Chair. She loves to create and draw and is always making something new.

Here's a few pics of the first day of school....don't they look cute in their smart little uniforms!

January 2015 - Our little apricot tree

We planted this apricot tree in the backyard a few years ago and it was slow to get started but now has really taken off. It's a little too big actually and needs a good trim but this year we got one cute little apricot from it! Hopefully next season will be better.

January 2015 - Beautiful birds

Frannie and Frampa love to feed the birds in their backyard and the girls always look forward to helping Frampa early in the morning put the bird seed out. They then wait quietly and watch the beautiful birds that come down and feast. This particular morning while we were staying there some really pretty rainbow lorikeets and pink and grey galahs came down and I snuck out and took some photos through the fence.
