June 2015 - Cradle Mountain and Sheffield

Lionel was performing his first wedding ceremony this past weekend at Cradle Mountain no less so we decided to tag along for the ride. It was a stunning winters day and while it was still pretty fresh and chilly the sun was shinning so bright and cheery. It didn't take all that long to get out there and we had a fabulous close encounter with a couple of echidnas on the side of the road. One had stopped in the middle of the lane and so I headed over there to try and shoo it to the side of the road lest it be hit by a oncoming car. It finally moved out of the way and then tried to burrow itself into the side of the road.
After we dropped Lionel off to do his thing we found a peaceful spot by the side of the road to have some lunch. A lazy wallaby watched us while we were eating! It was so serene and quiet and still there.
Once we picked Daddy up we headed up to Cradle Mountain to have a little look. We ended up getting a 2 year parks pass instead of a day pass so hopefully we can spend some more time exploring our beautiful island.
Cradle Mountain was stunning as always and the view was crystal clear. Poor Lionel was still in his suit and not really dressed for the weather so we didn't stay too long. On our way back we encountered an enormous wombat on the side of the road. He was just happily munching on the grass and didn't really mind us getting in for a closer look.
On the way back down the mountain we stopped off to stretch our legs in Sheffield, a town famous for it's amazing murals.
It was a wonderful day all round and we're so glad we could enjoy it together.
Poor Daddy feeling the cold!
