Ottobre 1/2010 Tipitii velour tunic

I seem to use the Spring and Autumn editions of Ottobre the most, Summer doesn't really get a look in down here in chilly Tassie.
So another from Spring 2010, this time the Tipitii tunic, it's done up in a gorgeous sun yellow velour in the mag but I've always pictured it in this cocoa brown french terry.
This time it's for miss 7, soon to be 8 and I didn't do the ribbing on the sleeves, hood or hem as I didn't have any that matched! So it's elastic on the sleeves and just a flared hem and coverstitched hood
She loves it anyway and even though I did the next size up it's a pretty good fit and will last her through next year.

December 2012 - Hannah's birthday

Lionel took Hannah to the Launceston Aquatic centre with few friends for her 9th birthday after Christmas. She had a great time and loved going down the waterslide. For her cake we had a chocolate cake with strawberries and cream. We had a laugh afterwards turning the 9 candle into a 6 candle ready for Mary's birthday by taking out the wick and putting in the other end.

We had fun playing with rag curls over the holidays and I did some for Hannah's hair on New Years Eve. Rather cute I think.....if a little time consuming!

We took the girls out to Penguin beach for New Years Day and enjoyed the lovely sunshine. Hannah and Beck had fun burying Mary in the sand!

We celebrated with a delicious chocolate pav for New Years Day with raspberries inside and yummy fruits on top, yum!

December 2012 - Christmas and camping

Before Frampa left to go back to Sydney he helped us set up the Christmas tree. The girls are old enough now that they do a great job putting it all together and decorating it while we sit back and enjoy the Christmas music.

Christmas morning dawned bright and lovely and we had a fun time acting out the Christmas story with the Little People nativity while Daddy read from the scriptures. Fun presents were opened, a little business lego man for Daddy complete with laptop and glasses. A crochet set for Becky, doll for Mary and puzzles and books for Hannah. Plus a fun game of Twister from Frannie and Frampa which we had to try out straight away.

There was bacon and egg muffin for breakfast and lots of new books to read.

We had decided to take a little camping trip this year on Christmas day and found a fun place to go near Lilydale. The forecast had been for rain but we thought we give it a go anyway and left mid Christmas morning and drove out. We set up camp and then went exploring around and played with the local ducks.
We visited the Lilydale reserve and played in amongst the trees there before heading back for dinner at the camping ground.

It started to cloud over quite a bit by the time we'd had our hot dogs and when we settled down for sleep it wasn't long before there was a pitter patter on the tent. The pitter patter didn't take long to become and downpour and we had the girls knocking on our tent door before long saying that they were getting wet! So once again we had to pack up out tents in the pouring rain and bundle the girls in the car and head home. We drove him in time to watch the sun rise and headed straight back to bed!

December 2012

December is always a busy month with school winding up and everyone wanted to get end of year celebrations in.We started off the month with the first ever Alpaca expo right here in Deloraine. Mary is rather besotted with Alpacas and really enjoyed herself. Here she is checking some cute ones out.

Hannah grade 3/4 class this year had been learning about life cycles and decided to get some silk worms. We were lucky enough to bring them home a few times and look after them while they were growing. It was amazing how much they ate! Tassie being Tassie we had a bit of trouble getting food for them as the mulberry tree in town that we were collecting the leaves from was late in blooming and so we had to feed them on mulberry leaf buds for a while until the leaves decided to catch up to spring and unfurl!

Speaking of unfurling our veggie patch was growing great in December and we had loads of things to eat most days from it, raspberries, zucchinis, potatoes, herbs, cucumbers and more. Plus lots of lovely fresh eggs from our chickens.

Frampa made an unexpected visit midway though December when Frannie's Aunt Tantre Rie passed in Holland. Frannie and her sisters made a big trip over there for the funeral and so Frampa decided to come hang out with us for a week or so. We did all the usual fun things including strawberry picking in suits! We were on our way to the Christmas devotional at the chapel and stopped off for some yummy fresh strawberries and raspberries.

December round up

Well, December is almost at an end....it's been a packed month and I'm really enjoying the school holidays so far.
We made the traditional gingerbread gifts for the teachers at school and the girls had so much fun decorating the little houses. I contributed with some little gingerbread people for the ancillary staff.

I got busy with some sewing and have been making some summer things for the girls. I love this Ottobre pattern, it's the Tangerine top from the Spring edition of 2011. The spotty material was from Spotlight and it's a cotton/elastene knit. Miss 5 loves it and even wore it to bed!

Our first harvest from the garden came this week when we were invited to a Christmas even dinner. They asked up to bring a salad so potato salad it was with some potatoes we "bandicooted" and fresh eggs from the chooks. It was topped off with homemade mayonnaise and chives from the garden.

Lastly here are a couple of bibs I sewed up for my gorgeous niece who turned one this month. Fabric was stretch french terry, think Bonds wondersuit material. It was very slippery to sew but a walking foot on the sewing machine made a huge difference!

More of November 2012

Just a few more happenings from November. I found some funny photos that go along with the previous photo of the girls in the car on the way to Faith in God. These are pictures that Lionel took of me while I was taking a photo of the kids! Also here is Hannah and Mary taking a turn riding on the Porters bull (well steer actually....) Rusty. He's so tame as he's been raised from a calf and thinks that Sister Porter is his Mum.

All three girls have been learning the piano this year and so we were treated to a concert at the end of the year featuring all three! They played beautifully and didn't show their nerves at all.

We took the opportunity to take some family photos as well down by the river and while we ended up with some gorgeous photos of the girls it was rather a funny exercise to get them all to smile and look like they were having fun......I recall having to dance around behind Lionel while he was taking the photos to crack a smile from Mary.

I've compiled the out takes into a fun little video, enjoy!
