The last few weeks of school are always super busy and this year was no exception. We were pretty exhausted once the last day finally rolled around.
In the last few weeks we had the Presentation evening for the primary school. Both Hannah and Becky sang in their grade choirs and they played in the school band's first public performance, Hannah on the flute and Becky on the trumpet. They did an amazing job and everyone loved it!
Both older girls were lucky enough to receive awards during the evening for working hard this year. Becky's was the Cresswell award for outstanding academic achievement and Hannah's was a principal award for exemplary performance, commitment and attitude. We were so proud of both of them.
At the final assembly for the year Mary was the winner of the annual book award for consistently doing her best. It was "Pig the Pug" which was perfect as she adores dogs!
Hannah also helped to MC the Grade 6 leavers dinner this year, she looked so grown up standing up there and I can't believe that it will be her own leavers dinner in 2015!
We finished of the busy few weeks with a Deloraine Band end of year concert. Becky has been playing the trumpet for just half a year now at school and she's also joined the Deloraine junior band who practice in the evenings once a week. They had their debut performance at the end of year concert and the band leader Cameron Scott was telling us all how fabulous it is to have a junior band once again after 20 or so years of not having one. They played a few songs including Peter Gunn and Sakura. At the end there were some awards and Becky was the winner of the shield for the "Most improved junior band member". She looked so chuffed and has really love playing with them this past year. When I asked her if she wanted to continue next year she gave me that "Duh Mum" face and said "Of course!!"
Nail biting nervousness getting ready to play their first piece!
Lastly some pics with the girls teachers this year. (please excuse the stray finger in the shot)
Mary with Mrs Page, left and Mrs Youd, right, her grade 1 teachers
Becky with Mrs Gibson, her grade 3 teacher. She was lucky to have Mrs Gibson for two years in a row and she's retiring at the end of the year.
Hannah with Mrs Wing, her grade 5 teacher.
